Over the last few weeks, the Jelly Babies have been exploring object permanence through a range of fun, hands-on activities. The children enjoyed posting objects into containers such as baskets or cardboard boxes, as well as using closed boxes and keys to discover that objects still exist even when they are hidden from view.
Developing an understanding of object permanence is an important cognitive milestone. It helps babies recognise that people, objects, and events continue to exist even when they are out of sight. This growing awareness also supports children with transitions and helps to build their self-regulation skills, giving them confidence that familiar people and objects will return.
